ALL-STATE VARSITY TEAMS
Coaches... Login in this website and cast your votes for the 2010-2011 All State High School Racquetball teams. Only Varsity coaches will have the opportunity to vote and only boys teams can vote for boys and girls teams can vote for girls.
All State teams represent who you (as coaches) think best represent the league in all aspects of the league. Beyond the individual on court performances, consider sportmanship, leadership, and team work. Consider these 'All Star' teams and cast votes for who you think would be the best players in the league to fill out your first team, second team, and honorable mention team.
Remember also that you can vote for anyone... each team will have 6 singles players and a doubles team. The six singles players can be the #1 seed from 6 different schools... it's whatever you think best represents each team. The doubles teams must be selected from the teams who were paired up for the season.
There is also a Sportsmanship Award. While you can vote for your own players for the All State Awards, you cannot vote for someone from your own team for the Sportsmanship Award. You must select a student from another Varsity team with your vote.
How do you vote? Login (COACHES: LOGIN TO THE WEBSITE HERE) and click on the button that says 'Click Here to Vote'. Then 1) Click on Edit to select a player or team for a given spot. Next 2) Select a Name from the drop down menu. Lastly 3) Click on Update to submit your entry.
All voting must be complete by 10 am on Friday, March 18th. All results will be announced on this website after 1pm on Friday, March 18th. These players that make the All State Teams will be recognized at the League Banquet on Wednesdy, April 6th. For more information on the banquet, click here...

HIGH SCHOOL STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS DATES SET
The Boys & Girls JV3 League State Championships will be on Saturday, February 19.
The Boys Varsity, JV1, & JV2 League State Championships will be on Saturday, February 26.
The Girls Varsity, JV1, & JV2 League State Championships will be on Sunday, February 27.
---The Boys have the larger Varsity, JV1, & JV2 programs this season with more teams entered into the league. The longer event was scheduled for Saturday. Now, officiallly, the Boys will play on Saturday and the Girls will play on Sunday.
REMINDER: 30 Second Timeouts will be enforced.
A reminder to players and coaches of this change...
In an effort to keep league matches running on time, tournament matches running on time, and to not create extended breaks during games... the 30 second time limit for timeouts will be enforced. Coaches will be encouraged to stay near the court door areas during matches to be more available to their players during timeouts. Coaches will also be encouraged to have their players bring water bottles or other drinks to have outside the door so that they won't have to walk long distances to water fountains. This enforcement is particularly necessary for Varsity level league matches. With only 3 courts and 7 matches to be played, it is important that the 30 second rule is maintained for timeouts. We need to assure that matches run on time. There will still be 2 minute breaks between the 1st & 2nd game and 5 minute breaks are provided between the 2nd game and a 3rd game tiebreaker.
If a player takes more than 30 seconds for a single timeout, the referee may automatically charge any remaining timeouts, as needed, for any extra time taken. Once all time allowed has expired, a delay of game technical foul can be assessed. See RULE 18 for more information...

2010-2011 HIGH SCHOOL RACQUETBALL SEASON INFORMATION
It's time to start thinking about the upcoming 2010-2011 High School Racquetball Season. Several changes have been made in an effort to improve the league and increase the competition and size of the league. Listed below is some of the information you have all been waiting for...
LEAGUE FORMS
Click here to download forms for the 2010/2011 season. Entry forms, student waivers, coaching ethics forms, and team etiquette forms are all updated for the new season. Please note the following changes...
TEAM ENTRY FORM
-- Please note the new league fees for the 2010/2011 season. Please remember that we incorporate the cost of all league tournaments into the league fees. All schools will play in all tournaments as part of the league schedule. The only optional tournament is the Doubles Tournament. That has a cost of $12 per player.
-- We want to get a head start on planning for the 2011 High School National Racquetball Championships that will be held in St. Louis on March 2-6. There is now a spot on the entry form to provide information on who your team's representative will be for the Nationals Planning Committee.
-- Remember that there is an attached page for conflicts that needs to be submitted. Conflict dates need to be restricted to school related activities. Please refrain from requesting conflict dates for specific individuals. Each date requested will require a reason to be listed in order to receive the board's approval.
STUDENT/PARENT ATHLETIC WAIVER/RELEASE OF LIABILITY
-- All players participating in the 2010/2011 season will need to complete the league waiver. Changes were made to incorporate the new clubs participating in the program. Last year's waiver will not work for this season.
MOHSRA STANDARDS FOR COACHING ETHICS
-- All coaches/parents/chaperones, or anyone helping regularly with your team, must turn in a signed copy of this revised form. For liability purposes this is a mandatory requirement for every school.
ETIQUETTE CHECKLIST FOR PARENTS, STUDENTS, & COACHES
-- Coaches must review this revised checklist with their teams prior to the first match of the season. Each coach must also distribute this list to all of his/her players' parents via handout or email. The best way to encourage the proper atmosphere at matches is to share expectations in advance of the first match.

CHANGES FOR 2010/2011 MOHSRA SEASON ANNOUNCED
The MOHSRA Executive Board recently held their end-of-season meeting. A number of suggestions for improvement were proposed to the board during the course of the last season. We reviewed all requests and have implemented some changes right away and are still currently reviewing others.
The following are 3 improvements that will be instituted immediately for next season...
1. Girls Varsity teams will now consist of 6 Singles Seeds and 1 Doubles team. This is an increase of 2 singles positions. The Girls Varsity teams will now be composed of the same number of players as the the Boys Varsity teams. In recent years we have had more girls participating in our league than boys, so this is a natural and logical change to make.
2. Rule interpretations that are appealed during matches at league tournaments, must be appealed by a participating player to the referee. Players can only appeal rule interpretations and cannot appeal the referee's judgment calls. The referee would then take the appeal to the tournament desk for a ruling. The tournament desk can request assistance from the Executive Board for help with the ruling. Only Executive Board members not affiliated with schools participating in the match can assist in the ruling. Hopefully this is a step forward in defining a clearer process for how appeals can be handled.
3. 30 Second Timeouts will be enforced.
Improvement #1 is self-explanatory, but Improvements #2 & #3 will both be discussed more in-depth at our preseason coaches meeting in the Fall. It is imperative that all teams interpret the improvements in the same way and can educate their players properly regarding both improvements.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and concern for the league. We continue to improve based on your input and feedback. Have a great summer!
